Even the name suggests it – the side table, in whichever part of the home you place it – isn’t typically centre-stage. Still, we think that every part of your home should pull its weight when it comes to style. With that in mind, we’ve found our favourite glass-topped side tables – each of them quirky enough to hold its own in your home’s interior design scheme.
Rivage Teak Pedestal Table – £110, Maisons du Monde
We begin with Maison du Monde’s Rivage wood and glass table – or gueridon, no less! – which has a base made up of bleached acacia and teak branches arranged as a bundle. The branches support a circular table top which will add a naturalistic or nautical feel to any room. The table is part of an extraordinary range of furniture that includes tables, chairs and light fittings, each of them made from intricately-arranged branches.
Jamaica Four Seasons Rattan Glass Top Side Table – £104.99 (was £149.99), Cozy Bay
Rattan furniture is rarely as stylish as this Jamaica side table, which definitely deserves a life beyond the conservatory – though you can even leave this one outside all year round if you want to! The table is woven from weatherproof and UV-stabilised PE rattan, standing on legs made from aluminium tubing with wicker woven around them. On top, there’s an 8mm-thick tempered glass square surface with curved edges.
Ingrid Glass Side Table – £149, M&S
M&S’s Ingrid side table is a 58cm-high (and 42cm wide) cylinder of elegance! The base of the circular table is made from metal and features geometric arc detailing in a sort of ‘fish scales’ pattern and has a gold-effect finish. On top, the surface is made from glass set into the frame and if you view the table from above it looks just as good as from the side: the ‘scales’ suddenly appear to be flower petals around a central circle!
Lounge Side Table – £749.99, Moree
If you’re looking for a real statement side, then we recommend you consider adding this light table from Moree to your shortlist. Designed primarily for bars, it would work equally well in a home with a minimalist colour scheme. It combines a translucent high gloss glass and plastic table top with a curved aluminium base. Best of all, it illuminates with an LED light source that can be programmed to dim or change colour!
Havana Glass-Top Side Table in Brass and Navy – £49, John Lewis
Our final choice is the Havana glass-topped side table from John Lewis. Another table that can be employed outside if you wish, this 50cm-high piece has a tempered, navy blue glass surface supported by a robust steel frame with a gold-coloured finish. This smart table is part of a range (intended for outdoors) that includes a double sofa and a lounging armchair.
